Due to COVID-19, our Sanctuary is temporarily closed, with a small number of staff running our daily operations. For this reason, we are suspending  adoptions and tours for an undetermined amount of time. While we will try to respond to emails and phone calls as best we can, we do not have a dedicated office staff and are prioritizing the care of our animals and health of our staff.

We want to thank you for your understanding, patience, and support during this time.

Baxter was picked up as a puppy by a good Samaritan that saw him being kicked on the streets by some neighborhood kids. He had a curable skin condition that required several weeks of treatments, so Azaya Ranch Sanctuary took him in to get him healthy. He has grown into a large, 65 pound, handsome boy. He is incredibly smart, obedient, willing to please, and high bonding. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play fetch. He has attended training classes in Petaluma and is a superstar. We had him DNA tested and he is a true mutt with a mixture of Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd, Chow, Rat Terrier, Jack Russel, Cattle Dog …and the list goes on! Baxter will excel in a home that has experience with herding type breeds and understands their exercise, training, and socialization needs.

All of our animals are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and have had a physical exam. At adoption we provide: veterinary records and vaccine certificates, castration certificate, lifetime lost animal support, one month’s worth of flea medication and heartworm medication, one week’s worth of food, a leash, a collar, an ID tag, and a familiar toy or blanket to help them settle in. We also provide lifetime basic positive training support.
